Now that I've picked my jaw up off the floor, I want to hug you. I'm so glad that you were able to finally get a diagnosis for your baby, and I hope that someone has bitchslapped that idiot doctor who kept on with the "stomach virus" bullshit.

The difference here, as I see it, is that you took your child to the doctor, multiple times, and fought when you did not get a satisfactory answer, and quickly brought him to another doctor and kept on them until you found out what was wrong with your little guy.

This stupid, selfish bitch, in all likelihood, didn't even take her poor, sweet little baby to the doctor, because they'd probably ask too many questions about why he was so tiny... nevermind that, you know, she'd have to take time out of her busy schedule to do something for someone other than herself.

My grand-daughter is also 5 and she has a bit of a "tude". Have no idea where that came from ;-).
No remedies all I can suggest is:
1) not to laugh (at least where it can be heard by the child)
2) try not to over-react- that can really back-fire
3) then there is explaining to the child why what they said is not nice and some time-out
or when all else fails and you are in a public place....... look at the child and ask loudly "Where are your parents?"

Girl, do no feel bad I remember when my LO was a newborn I thought a few times it was a good thing I saw those terrible shaken baby videos because sometimes they ARE that frustrating. The important part is you did NOT shake your baby! Good job, momma!

I would say the mom bears some of the blame in about nine cases out of ten; either she knew the guy was an abuser, and didn't do anything about it, or would have known if she'd exercised reasonable care. In maybe one case in ten, the abuse strikes like a bolt from the blue that no one could have seen coming. So maybe you can't blame the mom in every single case - and there have been cases on this site where the writer specifically declined to blame the mom - but usually you can. At the end of the day, it's HER child and HER responsibility.

Sometimes people can fool you. They can compartmentalize their evil behavior and show a seemingly good side to others. We see this all the time when 'beloved' coaches or clergymen or 'good family men or women'' turn out to be child molesters. When no one has had an inkling of the truth, we get tragedies that probably could not have been prevented. But we are just as likely to read that people had their suspicions but did nothing or that children tried to tell and weren't believed.

As for the moms of abused and murdered children, if you google the cases presented here and follow interviews with and testimony from these 'clueless' Moms, most of the time you can see how tragedies could have been and should have been prevented. "Sure, he hit me from time to time but I never thought he'd hit a child." "I knew he hurt our son, but I didn't realize he was actually breaking bones." "I didn't know he had a long record of violence and had been in an out of prison." "I didn't stop the abuse because I didn't want him to hit ME." "I wanted to believe it would get better."

I just left your site. I was unable to get through most of it because of the memories it stirred up. But I can say that I am a survivor and have taken my life back from my abuser after a lot of therapy and gaining the understanding that I am not a whore, slut etc. and am a pretty darn good and amazing person! I thought about sending in my story but I just couldn't at this time. Maybe sometime in the future. Thank you for being brave enough to put this "dirty secret" out in public forum. My motto for life has become: Always keep your head up, shoulders back and never let them see fear.

I will admit there are times it is difficult NOT to take somethings personal. I try to stop and take a minute to breath and reflect before I post just to make sure it is not a knee-jerk reaction......now remember I said I TRY, sometimes it just don't work :-)
Big girl panties are great especially when they are silk and lace...oops did I just say that out loud?? hum...my bad. In many of these posts the mother gets criticized for leaving her child with her new boyfriend. If the mother is truly innocent of any abuse and she simply left the child with her new boyfriend I dont think its fair to assume she is not a good mother. There are millions of mothers who have children and are single. Then they meet what they believe is a great guy and trust him. Provided if they new each other a week that would be different. But what if they had been dating for years and all signs point to him being a great man? You cant say that a woman should NEVER leave her child with someone not related by blood.
